Barbara Gongini

Barbara Gongini from Denmark is a relative new comer but making a very strong impression. The look is dark and dramatic with leather and metal hardware. Shirts in fine cotton, heavy drill coats and leather vests and jackets. The range is complemented by oversized soft leather bags.

Darcy Miro

New to LEFT is the work by New York sculptor and jeweller Darcy Miro. Miro’s creations are created using casting methods with sterling silver or 18 karat gold. Her pieces emerge from wax casts made from found materials, showing jagged surfaces, erosion, decomposition and decay. Each cuff resembles fragments of a tiny terrain. The sterling silver is oxidized with addition of black diamonds to the larger works.

CORNELIAN TAURUS

Cornelian Taurus is a Japanese boutique leathergoods label designed by Daisuke Iwanaga.
When we met Daisuke and his brother Shinsuke in Paris last year, we were so impressed by the care and respect they had for their craft. The bags and wallets are truly of the highest quality, that is not always achieved in certain "high end" products these days.

The pieces have an industrial approach, which is carefully balanced with elegance, beauty and functionality.
What makes these bags so special are the thoughtful elements and references to Japenese and family culture. The handles are wrapped like the handles of traditional Samuri swords, and the the hardware is often taken from boat rigging in honour of the family maritme history.

All pieces are created using traditional Japanese handcrafts, using Japanese tanned and smoked leathers.

We are so pleased to have this true artisan label at Left, and I'm sure you will be impressed by these luxurious little treasures!

So if you haven't been in to see us for a while, make sure you pop in soon to see how fabulous the store looks after the small adjustments we have made. We are bringing you lots of new beautiful labels with unique treasures this season, so be sure to keep in touch and up to date, so that you don't miss out!

YOHJI YAMAMOTO

Left is very excited to bring the YY Mainline back to Australia after an absence of many years. The beautiful pieces from this collection really speak for themselves with that effortless Yohji appeal that never dates. Yohji Yamamoto used Jimi Hendrix as a source of inspiration for the SS 2011 Collection. Black slashed and draped pieces are punctuated with a psychedelic neon print on sheer tops, leggings and scarves.

One of the new labels to Left this season is Fleet Ilya. The label was originally founded as a brand of luxury handmade restraint objects by the Russian born Ilya Fleet, who trained in traditional saddle making. The boundries between fashion and bondage becoming blurred when Resha Sharma, a Central St.Martins design graduate joined Ilya.

All the pieces reflect Ilya's traditional craftmanship and fetish origins, combined with Resha's fashion knowledge, giving them a dark elegance, together making Fleet Ilya one of the most celebrated accessory labels from London.

The attention to detail is superb, and all pieces are hand made in England.

UNCOMMON MATTERS

Uncommon Matters explores the boundries of wearable product and concept - couture accessories By Amelie Riech made in fine porcelain and plated in gold or platinum. Each piece represents a tribute to ancestral skills, technological innovation, and radical transformation of the initial material.
These pieces have to be seen to be believed! Their beauty is in their simplicity and delicacy. They feel amazing on the skin.
